Floating Head Shell & Tube Heat Exchanger

Floating head column tube heat exchanger equipment is mainly composed of the following parts:

Shell: As the protective shell of the whole equipment, it carries the core heat exchange components inside.

Tube bundle: composed of multiple tubes, arranged according to certain rules, forming a sealed channel for fluid to pass through for heat exchange.

Floating head system: As a feature of the floating head heat exchanger, the design allows one end of the tube bundle to float freely, effectively coping with thermal expansion caused by temperature changes.

Tube Plate: Used to support and secure the heat exchanger tubes, ensuring the stability of the tube bundle within the shell.

Folding plate: used to change the direction of fluid flow, increase the intensity of turbulence and improve heat transfer efficiency.

Floating head tube heat exchanger equipment utilizes the basic principles of heat conduction and fluid flow to realize the efficient transfer of heat from one fluid to another. The specific process is as follows:

Heat transfer: high-temperature fluid enters the tube bundle, and the heat is transferred to the low-temperature fluid through the tube wall.

Floating head function: Floating head design allows the tube bundle to expand and contract freely when the temperature changes, eliminating the stress caused by uneven thermal expansion and guaranteeing the stable operation of the equipment.

Fluid flow: Shell program fluid (such as cooling water) in the folding plate under the action of multiple folding, increase the contact time with the tube bundle, improve heat transfer efficiency.

Application fields

Petrochemical industry: It is used for heating, distillation and condensation of crude oil, as well as cooling and heating processes of various chemical raw materials and products. For example, in the atmospheric decompression distillation device in the refinery, floating head tube heat exchanger is used to heat the crude oil to a certain temperature, so that it is separated in the distillation tower.

Power industry: In thermal power plants, it is used in systems such as condensate heating and circulating water cooling of steam turbines. For example, the steam discharged from the turbine is condensed into water, and the condensate is heated through the floating-head tube heat exchanger to raise its temperature before it is sent back to the boiler to realize water recycling.

Refrigeration and air-conditioning: As an important heat exchanger in chiller and air-conditioning systems, it is used for heat exchange between refrigerant and water or air to realize the purpose of refrigeration or heating. For example, in the central air conditioning system, the floating head tube heat exchanger can exchange the low-temperature chilled water produced by the chiller unit with the indoor air to provide cool indoor air.
